Hi lovelies, Happy Tuesday to you. Did you watch The Bachelorette last night? Here is the recap of what you missed last night.
Last week on The Bachelorette, Hannah Brown sent Cam home after he was vying for the “pity rose.” In all my time watching the Bachelor/ Bachelorette I have never heard of a term.
Jed has a one on one date. The episode kicks off in Boston, where Hannah invites Jed on the first one on one date. After strolling through Quincy Market, Brown gives him a tour of the city, which consists of her showing him landmarks.
When they sit down for a pint of beer at the iconic “Cheers” bar, Jed opens up about his feelings and reveals that he’s never felt this way about someone before.
“I like being around you,” they say in unison.
For the final leg of the date, Brown takes Jed to the Auerbach Center, which is where the Boston Celtics practice. They meet two players—Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier—before getting suited up and playing a two-on-two game.
At dinner, Brown can hardly contain her “excitement” about Jed. Though it’s obvious he’s struggling with the fact that they’ve spent zero alone time together (no offense, producers), he’s smitten, and there’s no denying it. The good news is Hannah is too, because she gives him the rose—and immunity until next week’s episode.
The Group Date
Up next, Brown and the men travel to Newport, Rhode Island, where she invites 13 contestants—Luke S., Luke P., Matteo, Grant, Garrett, Kevin, John Paul Jones, Devin, Connor, Dustin, Peter, Mike and Dylan—on the group date. When they arrive at Fort Adam, home of the champion Newport Rugby Football Club, it’s clear where this is heading: a competitive rugby match. After splitting into two teams, the men face off against each other, and brutal is an understatement. Not only does John Paul Jones take several nasty spills, but Kevin also gets sent to the hospital with a shoulder injury, so there’s that. At the after party, Luke S. is still pissed about the rugby match, considering Luke P. was unnecessarily aggressive. (Surprise, surprise.) When Luke P. pulls her aside, he delivers a sob story about how Luke S. “came after” him on the field. Shortly after, Brown pulls Luke S. aside and demands to know what happened, and he doesn’t hold anything back. When she asks if the other men feel the same way, Luke S. confirms that Luke P. is the bully of the house.
“When it comes to my relationship with Hannah, I’ll never quit on her,” Luke P. tells the producers.
Cut to a montage of the other contestants telling Brown how they really feel about Luke P. Dazed and confused, Brown gives the rose to Garrett.
Tyler C.‘s One-on-One Date
Tyler C. is the lucky recipient of the final one-on-one date. Things start off rocky, since Brown is still shaken up about last night’s revelation about Luke P. Luckily, Tyler C. swoops in with an impromptu pep talk about being the guy that “picks her up,” and can someone get him a rose already? Brown kicks off the date with a boat tour around Rhode Island before fishing for lobsters. “What a catch,” Tyler says. Touché. Later that night, they sit down for dinner, and Brown wastes no time thanking him for comforting her after the Luke P. drama. She admits that she was unsure about him prior to inviting him on the date, though he completely changed her mind. As a thank you, she gives him the rose.
The Cocktail Party
At the cocktail party, there’s only one thing on everyone’s minds: Luke P., who is still denying there was any wrongdoing. When Mike confronts him, the conversation escalates to the point where Luke P. is speechless.
“You are a psychopath,” Mike says. “That’s who you are.”
When Luke S. enters, Luke P. admits that he lied to Brown about him and promises to set the record straight. So, he pulls her aside and tells her that Luke S. is forcing him to put in a good word for him.
Right on cue, Brown asks to speak with both Lukes alone. Dun dun dun.
Will she choose a side? Or send both men packing? Guess we’ll have to wait until The Bachelorette returns next Tuesday, June 11, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
My top picks this week are as follows:
Peter, 27
Peter is the only guy last night who had both his Group Date and Rose Ceremony time shown, complete with zoomed-in makeout sessions. It’s at the point where Peter is such an obvious frontrunner that I almost feel like he may not win because of it. While what we’re being shown certainly does a great love story justice, it almost feels too obvious, making me wonder if a dark horse ends up swooping in. At any rate, with the airtime we’ve been getting, it’s safe to assume Peter is at the very least in final two (maybeee three). A 1-on-1 is coming any day now for him…
Jed, 25
It takes balls to admit what Jed admitted last night, and while it was a risk (and I know some won’t agree with me), I personally think it paid off. I’ve always said anyone would be crazy to come on this show 100% for “love,” and as weird as it sounds, I would argue that it’s more noble to seek exposure as a singer/songwriter than as a wannabe Sugar Bear Hair-touting influencer. At any rate, by admitting this truth, it only further legitimized his intentions and relationship with Hannah; if he felt nothing for her and was there solely for his career, he would never have made this confession. Jed got the third 1-on-1 date of the season and the theme of the day was how natural and effortless things are together. The main thing keeping Jed in second here is the fact that no conversation from their Night One 1-on-1 time was shown, but other than that, he is a MAJOR frontrunner.
Tyler C., 25
Gosh, I just love Tyler C. He is a chameleon, able to deftly transition from flirtatious banter to playing the role of supportive boyfriend and good listener. I really enjoy watching Tyler C. watch Hannah; as they said on Episode 2, he is “locked in.” Beyond listening to her, you feel like he’s seeing her. I liked that Hannah admitted to initially seeing him as the playboy type; I saw that as well and love that it was addressed because it gave him the opportunity to show more facets of himself and his reasons for being there. Tyler C. is my personal favourite, but like Jed, we didn’t get much Night One time with him and Hannah, which has me doubting he’ll be the last man standing. I’d love to be proven wrong.
Connor S., 24
Not much development on the Connor S. front. While Peter had both his Group Date and Rose Ceremony 1-on-1 time shown, Connor S. had none this week, dropping him a bit down my list. It’s typical for someone to fall back in the airtime shadows after their 1-on-1, but to have none shown makes me slightly less confident he’ll make it to the very end. His 1-on-1 from last week is still fresh on my mind, however, and he’s definitely one to watch.
